Nelson Mandela Metro High Performance Hubs

 Individual Athlete Program (IAP):

  • This program provides scientific, life skills and athlete support to nominated elite athletes.   The criteria for acceptance onto the programme are at least provincial colours, with the prospect of a medal at national/international level.In principle, there are currently 15 IAP Athletes in the Nelson Mandela Metro District.

 

-Nelson Mandela Metro High Performance Hubs :

 

Judo Hub

The Judo Hub is based in Port Elizabeth and is situated at Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth.

A total of 5 players form part of the Hub.

The Players have individual Coaches  and Mr Mtunzi Mapitiza is the Hub coordinator.

Players train 5 times per week at the ECAS High Performance Gym under the supervision of ECAS Sport Scientist.

ECAS also assist the group with transportation to attend training sessions on a daily basis.

 

Eastern Province Kings u21 Rugby Hub:

The  Eastern Province Kings u21 Rugby Hub is based at the Nelson Mandela University High Performance Center situated at Nelson Mandela Metro University in Port Elizabeth.

The  Eastern Province Kings u21 is a feeder program for the Kings rugby team. ECAS assists with payment for services such as players transport, accommodation, meals and life skills training etc.

A total of 44 players  forms part of the Hub.

Mr Robbi Kempston is the Manager of the program and the  Hub coordinator.

Player train 5 times per week at the ECAS High Performance Gym under the supervision of a qualified  Biokineticist.

 

Nelson Mandela Metro Women’s Rugby Hub:

The Nelson Mandela Metro Women’s Rugby Hub is based at the Nelson Mandela University  High Performance Center situated at Nelson Mandela Metro University in Port Elizabeth.

A total of 3 players  forms part of the Hub.

The Players are coached by the EP Rugby Coaches.

Players train 3 times per week at the ECAS High Performance Gym under the supervision of ECAS Sport Scientist.

 

Eastern Province Cricket Academy:

The Eastern Province Cricket Academy  is based at the Nelson Mandela University High Performance Center situated  in Port Elizabeth.

The Eastern Province Cricket Academy is running an extensive player development program annually. Part of our program is to ensure that the cricketers receive high quality coaching and overall support in the following areas: Sport Science, Life skills, Gymnasium training, etc.

A total of 15 players  forms part of the Hub.

Mr Piet Botha is the Manager and Coach of the Eastern Province Cricket Academy.

The group of Players train 2 times per week at the ECAS High Performance Gym under the supervision of ECAS Sport Scientist.
