Rugby is almost synonymous with Dale College and has become the dominant sport at the school. Annually the school field six open teams, and three each in the u14, u15 and u16 age categories.
Dale College competes in annual “Derby Days” against schools across the Eastern Cape. Historical rivals include Queen’s College, Selborne College, Grey High School and St Andrew’s College. Dale College has produced representatives in Border youth teams, including the U/18 Craven Week and Academy teams, Grant Khomo U/16 team, Border U/17, 7’s team and Border U/19 team.
The school has produced exceptional rugby players which includes the likes of; Henry De Villiers, Gcobani Bobo, Keegan Danials, Terra Mtembu, Aphiwe Dyanti, Shakes Soyizwapi, and Apelele Fassi.
