INDIVIDUAL ATHLETE PROGRAMME (IAP)

There are currently 17 IAP Athletes in the Nelson Mandela Metro District, with 11 athletes in the A-Category and 6 in the B-Category

HIGH PERFORMANCE HUBS

Judo Hub

May be an image of one or more people, people standing and indoorThe Judo High Performance Hub is based in Gqeberha at the Nelson Mandela University. A total of six Judokas form part of the Hub, which comprises of four men and two women.

The Academy also assist the group with funding for transportation to attend training sessions on a daily basis as well as with training camps and scientific squad testing.

Outstanding Athlete Achievements:

  1. Sinqobile Shongwe (60kg): Won an individual Silver Medal and a team Bronze Medal at the Africa Cadet and Junior Championships held in Nairobi, Kenya.
  2. Asemahle Zondani (66kg): Won an individual Gold Medal at the Judo National Championships held in Missionvale, Gqeberha.

Tennis HubAdvantage Tennis Hub Training Camp

The Advantage Tennis Hub is based in Gqeberha and a total of six young players form part of the Hub.

Mr Luyanda Senti is the Hub Coordinator and Coach. The group trains three times per week under his supervision.

The Academy assists the group with funding for transportation to attend training sessions as well as with training camps and scientific squad testing.

Disability Sports Hub

The High Performance Disability Sports Hub is based in Gqeberha and a total of five athletes form part of the Hub.

Mr Michael Louwrence is the Hub Coordinator and Group coach.
