Rugby at Queen’s College remains the school’s number one sport in winter. As the summer season starts drawing to an end every year, there is always a buzz of excitement as the new rugby season approaches. Queen’s can boast a total of 20 rugby teams; 8 open, U/16A, B, C, D, U15/A, B, C and D and U14/A, B, C and D teams. Many other schools don’t have the same number of teams, which results in the lower level teams not playing too many games in a season.
Queen’s College has a total of seven rugby fields which comfortably accommodates the teams they have available. The Queen’s College Victoria Recreation Ground hosts the main rugby games of the afternoon (1st, 2nd and 3rd teams). The Rec’s grandstand can accommodate up to 6 000 spectators.
